THE SWITHINS are ready to drop ''Oyage'' - Oct 1s (#Anticipate)
September 14, 2014 - Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria The Swithins - gospel singing quartet (sisters of same parents) today announce they’re set to release a Single titled Oyage on October 1. Oyage is Ogoni word for grateful (Thank You) and a remix of a very old Niger Delta praise song. The Swithins’ version is a hot and dance-able highlife mix produced by DSmart – and promises to rule the airwaves. The Swithins infuses sisterhood, faith, culture, love for God and music into their craft. Oyage is a follow-up to Maka Ihe Nile (A single - which was released last year). Already they are enjoying massive airplay across radio and TV in Nigeria as well as a popularity surge on social media. Maka Ihe Nile video (released October 1, 2013,) is available for viewing on Youtube – youtube.com/theswithins. Arguably Nigeria’s only surviving All Female Group – they started in 1998 with the sole aim of sharing the good news of the gospel through music.
Staying true to their original vision, their unique selling points continue to include their consistency, dynamism and love for God. This single just like the one before incorporates everything they stand for – taking the Gospel of love, mercy, deliverance and encouragement to the ends of the earth through songs. It is also a testament to their continuing story of God’s love and care. The local flavour is apparent in their choice of language and style. These include Igbo (where the sisters are from), and Ogoni (a dialect of the people of Ogoni Kingdom, River State in Nigeria’s Niger Delta – where they grew up and continue to reside). With Oyage, they hope to finally cement their presence in Nigeria /Africa’s music scene.
