With over 1500 people including children slaughtered by the terrorist group Boko Haram, the campaign to bring back the 250 missing children that we know about has extended beyond Africa to the rest of the world. The unfortunate situation has touched millions around the world and highlighted a number of other issues affecting Children and women in Africa and now 14 female African-American, Nigerian, Southern Africa and Sieraleonian artists are lending their voices to the #BringBackOurGirls and female empowerment global campaign by releasing a track entitled SISTAS UNITE. Executive Producer of ‘SistasUnite, singer May7ven beckoned on her fellow African female stars to join her on the track to address their points, the current state of Nigeria, female empowerment, hope and raising the profile of women by becoming United! "Very rarely do women collaborate or come together in music and other industries so I wanted to unite us and break boundaries with an all African female line up for a cause greater than ourselves" says May7ven. The groups protest included lobbying at the Nigerian embassy on the 9th May and again joining the #WeMarchForOurGirls to deliver a petition to number 10 Downing Street on Saturday 17th May 2014. The charity single will be released globally on 29th May to raise more awareness about the situation, unite women across the world and most importantly raise consciousness and keep the public pressure on the government to put an end to the devestating state in Nigeria. Joining forces for the very first time, the artists have come together to deliver a spine tingling, exciting, heart piercing strong female anthem, driven by lush drums, strings, sexy saxophone and glorious vocals produced by fast rising UK producer Mictizzlebeats and mixed by Osiki (Triple O Productions) Ojo.
The single premiered on CapitalXtras #Afrobeats Show with Abrantee this weekend and already getting support from DJs world over! Sistas Unite's founders Daniel Sync Media House and M7 Music Publishing are backing 2 major charities directly working on the Chibok situation in Nigeria, the Red Cross and AFCUR organisation dealing with abuse on women and children. Rather than a fly by song, it seems SISTAS UNITE is anthem that will not go-away any time soon as the chorus plays 'aint no stoppig us now, we are marching on' making their way into the hearts of the nation.
