MUSIC : Jarmeu Ft. Ramsey – Lasgidi

The new music maverick signed to<em><strong> Dee-R-S Tunes,</strong></em> 
<strong><em>Jarmeu</em></strong> jst released his first single before his 
Album.<br />

The extraordinaire singer and producer whose two singles<br />(self produced ‘E 
No Easy’ and Blaze [2Shotz' attention] produced ‘Am Bad’)<br />is receiving rave 
reviews, will in a couple of days release a third track<br />and first single off 
his ‘Da Wait is Ova’ mixtape. The EP will precede the<br />album which the label 
he is signed onto is leaving nothing out to ensure it<br />appeals to the 
international music audience as will be heard in the EP lead<br />single titled 
‘Lasgidi’ featuring Ramsey, a UK based artiste.<br />

Both the EP and album will feature artistes from the US, UK and a few 
big<br />names from Africa.<br />

Jarmeu has worked with several acts and produced quite a number of 
songs<br />and commercials. Jarmeu has two sides to his style of music: 
the<br />philosophical/motivational personality and the sex appeal /commercial 
style<br />for the ladies and Party Marshals. Five tracks will be released off 
his<br />debut untitled album which the label head says he is not in a hurry 
to<br />release. The eventual plan has divulged by Mr Idris, the CEO of 
Dee-R-S<br />Tunes is to drop one of the best album in the history of 
afro-tunes.<br />

A video for ‘E No Easy’ would also be shot off the album.<br />

The artiste who works as a producer and engineer at Spring Board 
Studio<br />brings a new voice, a new sound and a new message to the dance floor. 
In a<br />phrase, this artiste can be described as philosophical, lyrical and 
very<br />danceable with his new music rooted in the great and rapidly 
evolving<br />Afro-Hip-hop genre and the  EP would be a mash of genres.<br />

As previously stated, both projects from the artiste will feature 
guest<br />appearances from fast rising artistes, details will be revealed as 
the<br />project advances.<br />

In keeping up with the tradition of making the famous Calabar Festival more 
exciting, foremost American musicians, Sean Kingston and Rick Ross, are among 
the dignitaries lined up to perform in this year’s edition of the festival.<br />

Chubby Jamaican-American singer, Kingston popularly known for tracks such as 
“Beautiful Girls” would perform at a Reggae Night scheduled to hold on the 16th 
of December , at the U. J. Esuene Sports Stadium.<br />

Also to perform on that night would be King Wadada, Nyore, General Brown 
Bread, Kandy Sea, Chantaman, Prince and Princess, Betsy Akan and Chris X.<br />

American rapper William Leonard Roberts II, better known by his stage name 
Rick Ross, would rock the city on Calabar Rocks Night on December 28, alongside 
the likes of P-Square, Banky W, Wizkid, Ojb Jezreel, Stunt and Julius Agwu at 
the U. J. Esuene Sports Stadium.<br />

Also to perform in this year’s Calabar Festival is Kool and the Gang, an 
American jazz, R&B, soul, and funk group.<br />

The soul and funk group would perform at the Governor’s Masked Fete on 
December 20, at the Tinapa Water Park. Also to perform the same evening would be 
Sugar Band, Temitayo George and Bassey Ebong.<br />

Kool and the Gang, originally formed as the Jazziacs in Jersey City, New 
Jersey in 1964, went through several musical phases during the course of their 
recording career, starting out with a purist jazz sound, then becoming 
practitioners of R&B and funk, progressing to a smooth pop-funk ensemble, 
and in the post-millennium creating music with a modern, electro-pop sound. They 
have sold over 70 million albums worldwide.”<br />

The Cross River Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ugbe, had assured, 
“We expect that the carnival this year would be much, much bigger than last 
year, because it has been growing year after year.<br />

Last year there was virtually no space on the streets. This year we expect it 
to be bigger, but we are ensuring that everything would be in place. The Calabar 
Festival this year would be much much bigger than the previous ones we have been 
having. Artists lined up are more exciting this year.” said the organisers.<br />
